Day 13 Sparkling Diamonds - Testimony on Living Healthy

Things to remember regarding living a Healthy Lifestyle.

  1. Monitor what you put in your body.
  2. You can eat what you want but in moderation.
  3. Typically your plate should consist of the following:
    • 1/2 of plate should be green vegetables
    • 1/4 of plate should have a starch like brown rice or pasta or a  very small portion of white rice or pasta.
    • 1/4 of plate should have your lean meats like turkey, fish or chicken
  4. Avoid these foods which are loaded with calories, sugar and carbohydrates:
    • Fried foods
    • Greasy foods
    • Excessive amount of sugar 
    • Sweet foods/desserts
    • Soda
    • Juice
  5. Instead of eating junk foods, try eating nuts and berries which will satisfy the sweet cravings.
  6. Try boiling, baking or grilling your meats instead of frying.
  7. Instead of drinking soda, coffee, juice, energy drinks and Gatorade, drink water.  
  8. When you make a choice to change your diet, initially your body may go through shock or withdraws from the lack of sugar, carbohydrates and fried foods.
  9. You may experience headaches, nausea, light headiness but your body will adjust, so will your taste buds.
  10. Obesity is at an all time high.
  11. High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Heart Disease are still on the rise especially among  African Americans and Hispanics.
  12. Don't be a part of the statistic.
