Things to remember regarding living a Healthy Lifestyle.
- Monitor what you put in your body.
- You can eat what you want but in moderation.
- Typically your plate should consist of the following:
- 1/2 of plate should be green vegetables
- 1/4 of plate should have a starch like brown rice or pasta or a very small portion of white rice or pasta.
- 1/4 of plate should have your lean meats like turkey, fish or chicken
- Avoid these foods which are loaded with calories, sugar and carbohydrates:
- Fried foods
- Greasy foods
- Excessive amount of sugar
- Sweet foods/desserts
- Soda
- Juice
- Instead of eating junk foods, try eating nuts and berries which will satisfy the sweet cravings.
- Try boiling, baking or grilling your meats instead of frying.
- Instead of drinking soda, coffee, juice, energy drinks and Gatorade, drink water.
- When you make a choice to change your diet, initially your body may go through shock or withdraws from the lack of sugar, carbohydrates and fried foods.
- You may experience headaches, nausea, light headiness but your body will adjust, so will your taste buds.
- Obesity is at an all time high.
- High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Heart Disease are still on the rise especially among African Americans and Hispanics.
- Don't be a part of the statistic.
